How did you get acquainted with guitar playing?

It was a birthday gift from my aunt, and I can never be more appreciative of her.

"Happy Birthday, Daren!" she said, "One day, you will become a fine guitarist. And I believe in you, 你可以的!"

Since then, I never stopped working towards that goal. Throughout these years, I practiced & learnt many more from my family & friends - to where I am today. #countingmyblessings

Describe your first experience playing on a guitar.

Being a percussionist in my Secondary School band, I never thought I would hold a string-instrument. And with the first chord I did, I went "Whoa." - indulged in that moment for a long minute, before reality kicked in and I felt the pain in my fingers.

What is the best thing about being a guitarist?

Bringing joy to everyone through music. Music transcends generations.

Describe your most memorable guitar-related incident.

I am extremely grateful for having a golden opportunity to witness my friends who brought live finger-style performances during our very own voluntary concert for the beneficiaries in 2012.

With the swift actions, I'm truly amazed at how distinct & precise each note can be, yet painting the picture in the most beautiful melodic way! #simplyawestricken

How many guitars do you currently own?

2 Semi-Acoustic Guitars from Yamaha & Prillante Music Instruments respectively. 1 Concert Ukelele from Symphony Music School

Tips for aspiring guitarists: I believe that no matter what you are struggling with as a guitar player, there is a solution. There are many players who’ve been in similar situations and found ways on how to overcome them. You can too.

Moving forward, you may want to give it a try as a volunteer, learn from the many volunteer friends, and bringing music & joy to the less-privileged beneficiaries together whom are living among us in all communities.

Perhaps, one day, you would be recognized and be sought for live gigs out there! :)
